Memphis Mensa Activities

Many are the reasons for joining Mensa.  Many are the reasons that people are active or not active in an organization they may have joined.  Spending time enjoyably with people and activities, perhaps with occasional intellectual stimulation, is a foundation on which a program chairman might make plans.

For programs in the coming months, the following are under consideration:

  • Lakeside Winery free concert

  • Boardgame night

Mensa activities can also include “field trips.”  Such trips will be primarily by private car on a “Dutch treat” basis and can be from a few hours to perhaps three or so days in duration.  One Mensa member or a hundred or so may go depending on available accommodations and the extent of interest.  Such trips could be guided or self-guided.  The following are possibilities:

  • The National Civil Rights Museum (Passes have been provided to us.)

  • Southland Greyhound Racing

  • Alex Haley’s home in Henning

  • Motorsports Park

  • Backstage at the Orpheum

  • Eureka Springs, Arkansas

  • Antebellum homes in Holly Springs

  • The Pink Palace Museum

  • Nashville, Tennessee

  • Gospel Singing

  • Elmwood Cemetery

If these suggestions interest you; if you would like to have—or to give more information about these events; if you would like to suggest or to sponsor these or other events, please contact a member of the ExComm.  If there is interest, we will plan it.
